Full Racing Beat exhaust?

I have an '83 SE, stock everything. I've been looking at the RacingBeat exhaust, and since I don't know alot about exhaust systems or car mechanics in general, I figured this "plug and play" would be my best option.

I was going to buy the RacingBeat header and muffler specified for the '83. There's also a presilencer, but I don't know if I need that or what.

I've read a lot of good things about the Racing Beat company, so I'm confident to order from them.
I'm looking for advice though, should I order the presilencer as well? Also, how does this exhaust sound? I've seen a couple youtube clips but if any of you have any, that'd be awesome. I'm not looking for something that's gonna wake the neighbors but something still noticable. I could also care less for the metal rattling/ clanking/rasping sounds, Looking for a nice deep purr.

Thanks for any advice/experiences with the RacingBeat

for what you want, RB is the way to go. Get the presilencer and be happy.

Can't go wrong with the RB system... Get the presilencer too, it greatly improves the system...

go to youtube and type in 12a Borla. I got that exhaust sitting on home waiting to be put on my 83'. Its a racing beat streetable header no presilncer. It does have highflow cats and a borla pro xs. I think thats the best sounding 12a thats stock.
Plus the cost is sooo much cheaper to ; )

here's couple of mine. the first is a friends stock 12a with road race header into a pair of cbr 900 mufflers.

this is of mine, rb streetport system that consists of road race header, dual presilencers, and their muffler. that center section is quite heavy. currently removed the presilencers so it's just the header and muffler. alittle louder but still quite tollerable. those local to me have heard it. loud exhaust isn't a violation here but i don't think the noise level of it now would get u stopped, provided u don't go by a cop at wot.

If you are not really a car guy go for the full dual roadrace Racing Beat exhaust system. It is a little more expensive than most (around $1000 USD), but it is complete and bolts up with no worries. No need to screw around with welding or fitting things. Keep your original equipment for when you need to get past smog.

You might want to look at your exhaust hangers while your at it. They have a tendency to split and break.

You will get a nice improvement to your gas mileage and power that is completely reversible in the event you need to pass smog or want to sell the car. If you are on a real budget you might even be able to source the exhaust, block off plates, from this board for a whole lot less. Although it might take awhile to get everything together.

Cheers,

Peacedog

I will upload the vid of my full RB exhaust later today and post the link up. I don't have a vid of it running though, only a vid of it idling and reving.

Here is mine with a full street port exhaust system. On a 12A streetport.

Now I think the RB muffler is too restrictive so. I had a race series magnaflow muffler. And the car seems to act a lot better. I'm in the process of moving and will post a video of the new muffler after I move.

If you want a complete bolt on package then you need to order either the standard or street port system. The presilencer is what enables the system to be a direct bolt on with their header. Otherwise you will have to have something fabbed up to connect between the header and the connecting pipe.

For more info, sound clips.on exhaust systems, types of mufflers, etc. Please do a search with the terms exhaust system, Racing beat header, header system, muffler,etc..

There have been alot of threads done on this topic with sound clips, etcc.....

If you have more questions on the subject please bring up an existing thread and we can add to it. However it has all been covered. :-)

I have the full racing beat exhaust on my car. Unfortunately the car did not have the stock exhaust on it when I installed the kit so I had to cut/hack/weld a piece of pipe together to fit into the spot, it didnt fit very well and it still has leaks. Major pain in the ***, I dont know why they dont give you a piece of pipe to go there for the near one thousand dollars I paid for the system.

Thanks for the replies, and I'm sorry that I started a new post on this topic, but I did get the info I needed.

And the SE is the special edition, I'm pretty sure it was only available during 83. The biggest difference is that it has an audio equalizer.

SE is only 84-85, 13b, EFI, etc. You must be talking about the '83 LE. It was only available in '83.

I think you mean LE? There was no SE until '88, unless you mean GSL-SE, which was only available in '84 and '85. And GSLs also had the equalizer.

Edit: gsl-se addict beat me to it.

Again, the RB exhaust is a very well known and respected system. Its worth the price because its stout, produces power and is one of the only systems that is TRUELY quiet.Rotaries are very loud when uncorked, and RB systems do a superb job of keeping that noise down, while also handling the intense heat of the rotary exhaust.

For price and shipping considerations, you might want to compare Mazdatrix against RB.The sell the entire RB lineup and usually have them in stock.Ive ordered parts from both and Ive always recieved the Mazdatrix order well before the RB one. Also, its possible they are cheaper than RB.
And,be sure you know exactly what car you have. The LE and the SE have two different engines that require different exhaust systems. The 83 LE has the same engine as the other 1st gens,a carburetted 12A.The 84-85 GSL-SE or simply "SE" is the only 1st gen with a fuel injected 13B engine.
