Fuel Tank Removal Help

Ahve an 1983 Rx7. Have drained all the fuel. Need to remove the tank for cleaning and internal coating to prevent the rust from getting into the fuel delivery system.

I am not sure how to disconnect the filler hose as it is difficult to see the connection or just which connection to undo?? Should I attempt to disconnect it at the inside in the finder well from inside the hatch back area or try to reach up from underneith over the tank flange??

Have not yet looked at the rest of the connections that will need to be disconnected.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

you (I'm pretty sure) need to disconnect it from under the car, between the body panel and the gas tank.

undo the screws at the fuel door. the filler neck will drop with the tank. make sure you disconnect the fuel sender guage. its on the drivers side toward the front.

ooh that's a good idea. I didn't do that though, because I was permanently removing my gas tank (fuel cell on a race car)
