fuel tank emissions check and cut valve rattle

In my quest to find the source of an irritating rattle from the rear of my GSL-SE, I found this "check and cut valve" near the fuel tank. This thing rattles like crazy when I either tap on it or on the hoses connected to it.

According the 1984 workshop manual, both 12A and 13B cars are equipped with these, and the purpose of the valve:
Releases excessive pressure or vacuum in fuel tank to atmosphere and prevents fuel loss if vehicle overturns
Would some one be so kind as to check theirs to see if it makes the same noise. That is next time you happen to be lying under your car lol

You can eliminate it if you like. The reason it rattles is the valve inside. It is made to stop fuel flow if your car rolls over on it's top.
