Unhappy Fuel smell in the oil

i bought an 82 motor, it ran, but since buying it and getting ready to change the oil i noticed a strong gas smell in the dipstick, could this be flooding or a cracked block?

If the motor was really flooded anytime before you bought it, or by yourself, that probably caused it. I had the same problem once, just change the oil asap because that fuel thins it out real bad...

Since rotaries don't have a block, I'd say yours is ok. Just change the oil.

Rotaries dilute their oil. Piston engines pollute their oil.
