fuel smell coming from carb.
i have a holley carb on my car and every time i open my windows i smell fresh fuel. it gets really annoying because my eyes start to get very teary and the smell of gas isn't pleasant either. would there be any reason on why it smells so much? i know that i don't have a leak or no apparent ones.
any reason why there might be that fuel smell?
thanks

check float bowl levels.... is the car running well otherwise?? Do you have the stock return line capped? If not you should cap it, that's a straight shot into the gas tank...could be cause of fumes. Also, check RELIGIOUSLY for fuel leaks, RX7's are known to burn really well.... lol

i'm not much into holley's but i know the you have to pull off the bowls to adjust the floats... do a google search and i'm sure it'll pop up some site with info on how to set them... try that, and then go from there. If you were running a mikuni or weber i'd have all the info you need... lol

you have to loosen the - screw and turn the big nut that sits on top of the float bowl; where the needle and seat is.
First take off the 2 screws on the float bowl to see where the float level is at. Gas should barely drip out of that site hole. If it is pouring out then you need to turn that big nut clockwise (turns the needle and seat downwards) to make the float go down some. tighten down the - screw ( don't over tighten )but leave the screws for the site hole off and turm on your fuel pump. See how much fuel comes out of the 2 site holes. should barely dribble out. you just have to adjust for a bit. good luck.

Need to check the spark plugs to see how they are burning. How long have you had your Holley setup? Did it just start running rich recently? What kind of exhaust setup are you running; stock, modified? How old are the plugs? Need more info.

well i have to get new spark plugs for the leading. the holley setup has been on the car for quite a while. im running a street port racing beat exhaust.
the car has been running rich for quite a long time. i just recently installed msd so i dont know how that affects the carb in anyway.

If you've had that setup for awhile and it's been running that way, I would check to see what size jet you're running and check the plugs. Also without the smog equipment the car will smell strongly of gas.
