Fuel Shooting Delightfully

Well, I got my rx7, however it appears to be shooting fuel from the FPR and won't start. Mind you, it is shooting a decent volume of fuel all over the engine. Usually, this would be a bad thing. I ASSUME I should replace the FPR, but have had little luck in locating one. Any help?

you need the yellow teflon, not the white, for gasoline

Well, I took a closer look, it does not appear to be coming from any of the lines, rather from the plastic cab on the FPR. Any ideas?

Are you sure it is the FPR? The FPR is on the back of the fuel rail closest to the firewall. More than likely, you are talking about the Pulsation Dampener (PD). It is located on the front of the fuel rail (closer to the alt). These normally have a screw in the under the outer cover and a diaphragm that is inside. The diaphragm is probably ruptured. You will want to get that fixed first. You hear a lot about 7s having engine fires (mostly 2nd gens) from people not knowing about the leak or putting off the repair.

You can get a new one a Mazdatrix and the dealer. Maybe a few other places as well. They are pretty expensive (~$160 last time I checked). There have been people that replace the PD with just a banjo bolt. It saves money and prevents a reoccurrence of the problem. People have said they have no problems with this, but I imagine that it may reduce the life of the fuel pump. You can search the 2nd gen section if you want to learn more about either way (replace the PD or go with the banjo bolt). I think I would go with a new PD myself, though.

Good luck.

Yep, that would be the PD then.
