i am under the impression that it is a fuel pulsation dampner, but the FSM only shows it on the end of the fuel rail though. Also it looks like there should be a copper washer on the left side of the banjo bolt, that should be sealing against the mating side of the pump. I don't see it in your pic, but it could have fallen off??

umm i don't see how your going to do that, considering the fact that the end of that stud it hollow for fuel to flow through it.

i would snug up that dampner on the end of the banjo bolt first and see what happens, if it still leaks take it off and inspect the copper washer.

ahhh.........well you might have to wait for another reply, because i can't find anything in the FMS or the parts catalog for that specific part only the whole pump. No worries someone on here has to have one laying around that they could sell ya cheap.

If the pulsation dampner itself is leaking, the internal diaphram is toast. Needs replaced. If it's leaking at the fittings, i.e., the copper crush washers, replace them.

Leaking PDs have caused more engine fires in FI 7s than anything else.

That fitting is not stock that I know of unless some of the SE pumps have them. If you're carbed, you may need to replace the pump to get the fitting. I would eliminate entirely.

I have papers saying some work was done but just says fuel pump/filter....didnt look like it costed enough for a pump but maybe a filter. I will eliminate first thing 2marrow but isnt the PD up front??? and also what is a good not 2 expensive replacement pump? thx
(its FI not carbed)

Stock, the PD is on the fuel rail and that part is over 100 bucks to replace, iirc. On the 2nd gens, when they go bad, some members eliminate it and replace it with a banjo bolt. If the one on the pump is the same size as the 2nd gen one, the banjo bolt part # is: Earls 997591, banjo bolt, 12X1.25 mm.

That banjo bolt and PD look like they have been on the car for a while. Does the pump look like it's newer?

The only reason I can see for a PD on the pump is noise reduction. The one on the fuel rail smoothes out the fuel flow for the injectors and it's usefulness is debated.

yeah i have been researching this after my buddy with a 2nd gen reminded me of the pd fires! i think the pump has been replaced cuz the terminals are just 2 post with nuts and 2 eyelets on them and the wires looked like ther were stripped by som1 who didnt care or know 2much about it and the mount wasn't secured like it should have been and the filter was hanging so maybe som1 mess with all that. 2marrow i can post a pic if you want. i dont care about noise. i cant hear a lot over my exhaust anyway. i was planing on doing the pd banjo bolt mod soon. thx
