Fuel pump replace ment, which, where, and how much

fuel pump for a ?1982(posibly 83) rx7 12a.
me and a friend are working on it and i come to the conclution the fuel pump is dead .. it only starts via fuel in the carb by hand. so on the left side of the engine there is what he says the 2 fuel lines the main line and the return to we un plug them both and there the car to the on position, no fuel squirts out, before i go and replace the fuel pump for him, was that the right lines to test fuel pressure?

also, when we get a fuel pump which one do i get it is just any basic inline fuel pump,?
or is there a place i can order one besides mazadatrix 185 doller one?

yeah try to turn the car over with the lines disconnected to see what happens. On 1st gens the pump only turns on for a split second until you start cranking on it. If it is shot carter makes a decent pump at a good price. Check any local parts store.

The lines you are looking for are 2 hard lines about 2 inches long with rubber hoses going to the firewall at the top of the carb on the drivers side.

if you look at the carb from the left side.....the main line will be on the right, return on the left

the carter is a great one, but you need a 0-4 psi regualtor, ie.. holley.

No doubt you will need a regulator with any aftermarket pump....
