Fuel Pump Question for stock 12A

My stock fuel pump went out and I've temporarily replaced it, but I've been looking at the Holley Blue fuel pump with regulator.

My question is, would this pump be too much for a stock 12A?

I'm not too worried about noise or anything just replacing my fuel pump, the reason I'm looking into the Holley Blue over the OEM fuel pump is when i switch to a higher CFM carb later i won't worry about buying a new fuel pump later to meet my demands.

And the regulator that comes with the holley blue, would that work well with the stock 12A also?

thanks.

Stock nikki's like low fuel pressure. Holley fuel pumps make some nice racket, but I cant complain. I run a Carter fuel pump mounted directly to the frame rail. I would run a carter pump, because it will run the high pressure the Holley needs, and the low pressure the stock nikki needs.

The cheapest Holley fuel pump I have seen is the holley red, which is $107.95 per summit racing:

That is to 7psi.

The Carter I run is:

It is 1 PSI less than above, but much less noisy, and still delivered the fuel I needed for a 600CFM carb on a stock port.

Search for Holley FPR and Carter fuel pump thread.

Okay, I'll check into that. But for Holley FPR's would you reccomend a 1-4psi or 4.5-9psi?

Get the 1-4 psi FPR. Most Nikki carbs only require 2-3 psi.

Is the blue holley fuel pump a good one to buy and use with the stock nikki ? can it be used later with a holley carb?

thanks.

I would recommend a Carter fuel pump over a Holley. The Holley fuel pumps are supposed to be VERY loud. The Carter is sort of loud too, but it isn't supposed to be quite as bad as the Holley.

Edit: I was looking at the Holley 1-4psi FPR,

Is there any special attachments I need to attach fuel line to it?

1) You'll need to get some 3/8" NPT hose barb fittings, at least two. I recommend getting the ones from McMaster.com that have 90 degree bends in them. It makes it far easier to fit the FPR in your engine bay somewhere. One for incoming and one for outgoing.

2) You'll also probably need a bushing to adapt 3/8" NPT down to 1/8" NPT if you plan on running a fuel gauge. Pretty much all fuel pressure gauges are 1/8" NPT thread.

3) Finally, get some permatex high performance fuel sealant for the threads. DON'T use thread tape. Thread tape sucks and it won't work anyway.

I believe this is the one you want. Part #53525K65. They come in a package of two, which will be perfect for you. Make sure that your fuel supply line is 5/16" hose. I am almost positive that's what mine is though, so you should be good with that size.

Here is the bushing for the fuel pressure gauge. Part #50785K62.

If you don't want to run a fuel pressure gauge then just get this 3/8" NPT plug. Part #50785K23.
