Fuel pump dead?

Fuel pump dead?
Been a while since I've posted but I just picked up another FB. She sat for a few months before I got her, so I drained the old gas out, replaced fuel filter, put new gas in, and put a few drops of oil down the carb before turning the motor.
Engine turns over and I have spark but she doesn't wanna start. So I pulled the inlet hose from the carb and cranked again. No fuel came out. The fuse for the fuel pump is good so it has to be the pump, right?
I just wanted to make sure before I grab the pump off of my old car. As I lack a garage and it's about 2°F outside, it's going to be a bitch to work on the new one. I have to get her going before the end of Feb though (that's when inspection runs out on the old one).

Pull the driver's side storage bin, provided you have an FB and not an SA. Unplug the two pin connector for the fuel pump and hook a multimeter up to the connector that plugs into the fuel pump's connector. Crank the engine over or have a buddy do so and see if you are getting voltage to the pump when cranking. If so, plug it back in and crank again. Listen for the pump to run when cranking. If not, the pump should be removed and tested by applying 12V directly to the fuel pump's connector. If it fails to operate then its faulty. If the pump operates then I would be checking for a blockage in the fuel feed line or in the fuel filter. At worst case, the pickup on the tank is clogged or the gas has caramelized in the tank and is preventing new gas from being sucked up. More than likely you have a bad pump but if the car has sat for some time you may want to rebuild the carburetor to ensure smooth operation.

If it's a 84/85, it could be the fuel pump relay. If you don't get any voltage to the pump plug, there is a relay under the dash on the gas peddle side. The relay can be removed a jumped. There are a couple of threads here on which connections in the plug to jumper. It's also in the wiring schematic.

She's an 83. Only sat for a few months and when I pulled the drain plug out of the tank, the gas was bad but not completely varnished. When I've had blockage in the lines on my other FBs, a little bit of gas would trickle out but this had nothing

If the pump operates, you can remove the line at the filter inlet, drain any fuel present in the line, then blow into the line. You should feel only slight resistance and hear bubbling sounds from inside the tank. This will give you an idea how freely the line is between tank and filter.
The filter is tiny and is easily clogged, especially after years of storage. You may want to blow thru the filter as well.

My first thought was fuel pump relay as well. I jumpered mine on the 84 and that got the pump to spin, but that's only a temporary fix - need to figure out why the relay isn't getting power. You can run a 12v+ line to that pump plug and get the pump to run manually in the mean time, but I wouldn't highly recommend it. Easiest one to splice into would be the stereo amplifier in the bin (if 83's have those, I can't remember - I'm an S3 guy).
