my dads car was running bad so we changed plug wires cap and rotor it still isnt runing good so we checked the fuel pump and it isnt pumping gas out of it when we turn the key on is that what is wrong with it

 

Do you hear a noise when the key is turned? If not check a fuse or broke wire, if those are good then the pump is bad. If you guy's need one, I got one on the parts car you can have.

On some models the fuel pump only works when you start the car.

 

He's got a 85' GSL.

 

Check for voltage at the pump itself, with the key on. No power, check the fuses in the fuse block under the dash.

If that fails, I would take a spare battery and wire it direct to the pump to see if it works.
