fuel pump

if u have a aftermarket carb can u just run the aftermarket fuel pumps w/o a fuel pressure regualtor . i heard that the regulator restricts. all im running is 2 facets and a dellorto 48 dhla

I think it depends on carb. Lets say if you are running a holley carb. You can run a holley red (or simialar) pump and not need a regulator. I have no idea when it comes to dellorto so no help there.

those facet's run low psi anyway, i think if it runs good you should be alright.

you might, as Ian says; but the key question is do you want to? you wanna have a pump that goes above the pressure the carb uses and then bring it down with a regulator. That way, fluctuations caused by a fuel filter getting dirtier or electricity usage by your aftermarket stereo system (for example) does not make the pressure drop to the point where is not supplying the carb and therefore engine with the fuel it needs at high load/rpms.

i talked to my freind rob from rotaryshack and he told me to adjust the float bowls and man it helped

u can use a se fuel pump should work good for the setup u have now?
