I believe it's hidden in some kinda cubby hole. Meaning, you have to take a panel off or something to reach it. If you've got the haynes manual you can find it in there.

I don't know what year your Rx-7 is but my 85 GSL has a cover over it. (The filter is mounted to the outside of the cover) There are 3 key mounting points. 2 of them are long shoulder bolts that have a 10mm head. The third mounting point is a stud with a 10mm nut holding the cover on. Remove these three and the cover should slip out (its sorta got a lip to it). The pump is mounted directly on the cover, once you drop it, you will see it. Getting the pump out from there is pretty simple. Note- There are 2 other bolts located on the cover. They are sorta in the middle of the cover, close together. They are for the pump mounting brackets. Don't remove those!
If you are going to re-install a factory pump, you will also have to first access the wiring connection located under the carpet in the drivers side storage bin. (I think you have to remove a dust cap to get to it). I did not do this. I snipped the wires from my old pump and installed a weber pump in the stock location.
