which fuel pump?

I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions for a fuel pump for when I put the 89 engine in my 85 GS.

I was looking at a GSL-SE pump but thats 350 from mazdatrix. Completely rediculius.

Which aftermarket pumps would you reccomend?

just about everybody i asked said that the 89 one wouldnt work, including the person i bought my 89 boltons from.

even if it would work, i dont have the opertunity to get it now. i just dont know what fuel pumps will work with the 89 engine and fit my car at the same time.

you can graft a intank pump onto a first gen fuel pick up, for a n/a motor i would recommend a walbro 255 pump.

use a msd external pump..... $180.00 from summit or jegs... in tank pumps wont work on pre 86 cars or get a SE fump from a wrecking yard... they usally sell for $60.00!!

well, yes, if you decided to go with an in-tank pump. even if you decided to go with an external pump, won't you be beefing up the lines in and out of the tank? just curious ...

If you plan on running an external pump you're gonna have to either fabricate a sump for the fuel tank or install a surge tank.

no since i'm a big n00b here... why would I have to make a sump? I was just under the impression that I put better lines on the tank and lead them to where the current fuel pump is.

Now I can probably allready guess that I'm horribly wrong so could some one tell me why this sump is needed?
