fuel pickup filter

I am looking for a fuel pickup filter for a 1985 GSL-SE. Has anyone found a workable solution?

Are you talking about the "sock" inside the tank?

I know it's a specific size to fit into the lower well in the tank, but there must be a generic can-type fuel filter that will work. Wanted to be sure you're not talking about the big fuel filter after the pump.

Yes, I am referring to the filter in the tank. I’m sure there is a filter that will slip on the end of the pickup tube and also fit inside the well. When I find a one that fits I will post the part number. I was hoping to avoid having to open every filter box at the parts store.

this is what i used

i think painting the tube with the stuff they use to line gas tanks would be better if you had a tiny amount of it.

It's in the BTW section towards the bottom. Doesn't really look like a link, but it is.
