fuel filter upgrade choices
tried to do some searches to see what people are using for fuel filter upgrades specially with boosted carbs but cannot seem get the info I wanted. I still have a stock fuel filter for the 12a on mines and I think It should be upgraded since my fuel pump and carb along with a camden are aftermarket . how bout a K&N? such as this

Good idea. I'm upping to a bigger fuel pump and was wondering if I had to switch filters. Although, I'm not opposed to using the $3 filter mazda uses. Seems to get clogged a bit, but that just means it is doing its job. It is cheap and easy to replace.

I presented this as an option a while back, using dual filters in parallel. It turned into a pretty long thread, and a lot of other options came up. Lots of information on aftermarket filters, specialty filters, etc. Check it out....

I'm running two stock filters, one before the pump which is a 7Lb Carter, and one before the regulator. If the first one lets go, The second will catch all the debris before it goes through the reg and my Sterling. I also change them every April before I get the car back on the road.

In my experience, the stock fuel filter is just barely adequate for a stock pump and carb. That's why just a little bit of a clog will cause issues.
Running two filters in line might help protect your carb, but will only increase the restrictions. That's why I ran mine parallel, meaning I split the line into two directions and installed a filter on each line, then joined them back up again. That way each filter only has to flow 50% and I still get 100% flow to the carb. I haven't had to change my filters in two years now (although they will be changed this spring just as a preventive measure).
Some of the other filters in that link I posted are actually high volume filters, which would achieve the same objective with less work (but more cost).....
