Fuel filter replacement. HELP!
WOOHOO!!
The job is finished!
I took Hades12 advice and used the wrench as he had suggested it. The bolts broke free and were still intact!
The thing that you have to remember is that if the fuel lines and bolts are as rusty looking as mine, you will need to take some steel wool or hard bristle brush to clean up some of the corrosion near the contact points where the copper washers meet the bolts and lines. I didn't and she leaked like the Titantic. Whoops!
Well, thank you for everyone's suggestions. What an incredibly helpful bunch of people.
Until next time...
Thanks again,
Roger

I was glad that I didn't have to fall back on my Plan B.
Plan B: - generic fuel filter for fuel injection for Ford
- two quick connect/disconnect hoses off of filter
- 2 ft of fuel injection-rated fuel line in case the quick connect hoses were a bit short.
Actually, the Plan B would have worked out cheaper now and in the future since the filter was only CAD$5. The Mazda part was CAD$46 including mounting bracket.
Better to keep the factory fuel filter, I think.

Well, I totally appreciate this thread as I am in the exact same sitch with my 85 GSL SE. Frozen banjos etc. This morning I joined the club to post a query--my pure last hope--and found this. Thanks all and I'm so envious of the non 13B guys who can do their filter change in 20 mins.
