Alright who said we don't have cup holders?

So when i was tearing things apart today, I noticed something, i don't know if this is what its suppose to be or not, but on the 84-85 style maybe earlier, models too, but if you open your glove box, there's 2 circla shaped things on there, with made a good table to hold my sandwich and coffee mug ...

ya they suck... the 84-85 glove box you can actually fit a tall cup there.. but a 79-83 dash, about a short mug or bowl is all you can fit in there... the top of the dash wont let you put anything taller than that... best ive ever done was in my 85, i drove with 2 frostys from wendys to the publix parking lot one lot over.... yea all in all they are good if you are parked lol

better idea. in my 84 se, i dont have the power window switches anymore, and the radio joystick is gone, so when i actually take a drink in my car, i just pull that little plastic part out and use the empty hole as a cupholder. if the drink is too tall, it takes a little bit of practice to change gears, but ive got it down pretty well.

I'm able to squeeze the cup between the passenger seat belt lock and the side of the passenger seat. Works pretty well.

does anyone really know if that was really the purpose of that? Just to hold cup let say when you're resting from a long break or something or is it just cosmetical?

But thinking about it more, if you buy coffee or what ever from lets say starbucks or tim hortons, i bet you that you can easily adapt something over there.

Personally I don't allow any food or drinks (except bottled water) in my car, never been a single drive thru yet, i just don't like it when people make a mess in a car ... i like it spot clean. The only reason i was eating and drinking though when i was doing that yesterday was because there was nothing to get dirty under there .. everything was already out.

i have a powdercoated rotor that lives in my car, its useful for explaining the rotary, and it makes a damn fine cup holder. set it in the pass seat and it will hold a big cup without tipping.

Just put your biggie size coke, fries and burger all in the glovebox and close it. If you can't see it, it can't tip over.

Like hiding under the bedsheets from a monster when your little.

Here are the options for cupholders on the 84/85 GSLs:

You can get option B from KMart for about $5.00.

That is a cool idea. I keep a roll of duct tape on the passenger side floor. It holds small to medium drinks well. Someone mentioned the tape idea here before, or it might have been an Elise owner. And you never know when some duct tape could be useful.

Drive throughs started around the same time as 1st gens were phased out. In the 'old' days you used to pull into and 'park' your car at the drive-in burger joint and eat in the car. When you were done you opened your door and walked to the garbage can to dispose of the paper and cups.

And Timmy didn't even have a drive through until much later.

So there was no reason to have cup holders...

I was thinking the same thing about the weight dj55 , I have a cupholder that fold up into 1" and then you can fold it out, then adjust it to any size cup. It's awesome. I have it on the passenger side, center console, kinda near the feet though. Here's what it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lot-o...QQcmdZViewItem. Mines a little differnet though, and its black

the same useless indentations are on the FC glove box lid

I bought a couple of these at Canadian Tire for $6 and one metal screw through the bottom into the plastic tray holds a cup or can solid in the corners ... could work on the FB as well

Cup Holder

My $6.00 Cup Holder mounted to the right side of center console.
Expandable to hold the Biggie Size Drink or Cup Sized Ash Tray thats shown in picture.
Also folds up so unless you where looking for it. Not Noticable.

There used to be a member here awhile back that sold a Dual Cup Holder that fit into the Center Dash that would close flush when not in use.
Only took 3 months to get my money back from him! He quit making them I guess.
Anyhow just throwing th 6 dollar Idea @ Ya's.

well i guess that they're probably like that because as we all know in japan they average 5km/h on the freeway during rush hour so no reall momentum to knock them out
