Fuel Filter Idea
From reading around quite a few people have some problems from their old rusty tank clogging up their oil filter due to the metal rust. Now correct me if this won't work but its just an idea that i thought about.
My idea is using a magnet to take care of all that, you would take and old fuel filter that you have, take out the filter that's in it, and place a magnet(in a bag or something so that you don't spend 2 hours cleaning the magnet each time you wish to do so) in the bottom of it, then take that and place it so that its inbetween your gas tank and fuel filter (otherwise if installed after the filter it would defy the whole idea)
what do you guys think?

The Magnet could be located in a place that is more convenient .. after all its only hoses ... I don't have that problem myself (yet) ... but its just an idea for everyone out there ...
Hmmm, what about wrapping a magnet on the outside of an oversized filter housing?
Something like the magnets that go on oil filters to hold the metal in the filter. Since its stuck to the housing its not clogging the filter element.

Problem #1: Rust is not very magnetic. Iron Oxide doesn't posess the same magnetic properties as Iron itself.
To drop the tank you just have to unscrew the fuel filler neck, unbolt the two straps (two bolts each), drop the tank enough to remove the lines (don't forget to label them), and remove.
EASY, anyone can do it in an afternoon. From there you can take it to your local gas tank shop and they'll professionally flush it for cheap. It cost me $50CDN to have my new fuel level sender installed and tested, have the tank cleaned and checked for leaks. That's about forty bucks US for you Yanks. The cleaning was half that price.
