Fuel feed

Is it common to have fuel feed issues on a SA? On my last autocross run today the car bogged down about 10 seconds into the run. I noticed that I had only about 1/8 of a tank of Gas at that point. It staggered along for another 10 seconds then woke up for the rest of the run.
Do I need to run with at least 1/2 tank to avoid this?
Would a high flow pump help?
Is there a mod to the tank for this? (baffles?)

Are you running a stock carb?

My GSL did that once going about 70KM/h around a tight onramp. It just bogged. I lifted off the throttle and went back on and she took off again. I think it was a centrifical force problem. It pulled the fuel away and starved the engine enough.

Fuel tank was definitely too low, stock or not.

Fuel feed solution

Thanks for the suggestions.

Seems like the solution is to run at least 1/2 tank or better to avoid this.
The extra urge from the LSD differential I just installed allowed a bit more speed and since I have replaced all the fuel lines at the tank to cure a fuel leak I can now run with more fuel in the tank. The carb is a stock Nikki.
I will also try 5 degrees more ignition timing and the "wire tie" mechanical secondaries to improve low RPM response. I have removed the secondary spring and can feel the secondaries open then close back down until the RPMs build when they open again.

The mechanical secondaries effect mid to high RPM more than low RPM.
