fuel coming out of return line

I was running my car pretty hard today, and I started smelling gasoline. I popped the hood and saw a steady stream of fuel pouring out of the return line. My car has an RB intake with an edelbrock carb. The fuel return wasnt hooked up when I got the car, just sticking out into the engine compartment. I noticed a problem once before, after running it very hard, the gas smell, and puddles of gas on top of my engine, at that time it wasnt coming out and I couldnt find where the fuel was coming from. Now I know my tank is pressurizing and pushing gas up through the return. It wouldnt stop coming out until I pulled the gas cap. What should I check for, what should I do? Is this a sign of a bigger problem, or do I just need to plug off the return line?
Thanks again guys

2 things, cap that line, and fix your fuel vent system. Theres a valve just in front of the gas tank (above the spare tire well) that controls the venting, and also could be your charcol cannister or the vent line itself.
