Front Thrust Bearings ~ Noise

How do you know if you have messed up the front thrust bearings?

I just put underdrive pulleys on a used 13B I have been working with and it is making a strange noise. I do not know if it is a new noise because this it the first time I have started the engine.

Grab the main pulley and move it in and out. If theres no endplay, you may have a problem.

Well if a thrust bearing fell out during the pulley swap, you'll lose all your end play. Also, when you torqued the pulley bolt, once it got hand tight did it tighten up within a 1/2 turn? I roached one once and it felt funny tightening the bolt cause I was mangling the bearing as the bolt got tighter. In hindsight, as soon as it felt funny I should have stopped. The bolt went hand tight, then took like 2 turns or more to finally get up to torque.

I used an impact wrench on it, so it just got tight. I will try to test for end play tonight.
