Front Strut Installation Help

So I got the old struts out of the assembly. I'm replacing the old ones with Tokico Blues. Using the included locking nut to put back in the old spindle assembly, I can get it finger tight but no more without it spinning. Is this as tight as it needs to go? I can only turn itwith a 2".

something is wrong

Sounds stripped to me. You should definitely be able to torque it down. I had to use a pipe wrench to get mine off. Looks like maybe the strut isn't seated all the way down? The nut should thread all the way down into the strut tube.

Were the struts that came out factory, or had they been replaced? Perhaps someone replaced them before and needed to shim them up, and there is still a shim inside the tube.

put the strut's locking nut in a vice while threaded on the strut housing. make sure you support the strut so that it doesn't fall. this should allow you to turn the strut assembly onto the nut and tighten it that way. this is the method that i used. worked great!

You got it. There was a 1/8th shim at the bottom. It didn't fall out at first because the oil made it stick to the bottom.

New question: I'm switching to RE-Speed camber plates which replace the strut mount; what do I need to save from the old assembly? I've already got the bump stop, the dust boot, and the spring seat. Is that it or am I forgetting something?
