front strut assembly for my 83 questions

I just got a replacement strut assembly for my 83.It is for the left front side. Anything I should know before I take my other one out and replace it with the new one? My friend is going to help me install it but I am trying to find as much info as possible. It looks together but I am going to a shop to make sure its compreased. All I need to do is replace the spindle but it looks like one piece. Any good sites that explain the process would be nice but any advice would be helpfully.

Do a search for "strut replacement" or a similar term. I think there's a thread with pictures and everything.

yea there is, but on the two main bolts, at the bottom, use alot of pb blaster or liguid wrench, or something similar, cause its not hard at all to snap those off. otherwise, good luck, and becareful of the springs.

Good point, but I'm wondering what he means by "strut assembly." The whole strut/spindle? If so, it's a matter of taking the two 17mm bolts out of the steering knuckle (always fun), the 4 14mm bolts at the top, and disconnecting the flexible brake line. Then you bolt up the new assembly and bleed the brakes. If it's just a strut cartridge, there's a bit more to it, and more tools are required. That gland nut at the top of the strut tube can be a major PITA.

It is just a simple bolt on if you have the whole strut assembly incuding spindle and whatnot. 2 17mm bolts on the bottom and the 4 14mm nuts on the top.

Make sure the little arrow on the top of the strut cap is pointing the same way as the old one. Check the strut install tutorial (in the archives, I think) for more details.
