Front end is shot = New 7

I went to do the struts on my car this weekend and found that all my bushing up front were shot and the steel radials where sticking out. I was thinking that i didn't want to dump the money into my car b/c of how crappy the exterior/interior of the car is... well i remembered there was a guy in town that had a blue 7 that had no motor and cosmetically its perfect. So new project is putting my 12a into the other rx7. I dunno how hard it will be but im going to do it so i can take the car to college and not worry about it/ stop getting **** from everybody also. How hard though do u think this will be? I have good knowledge of cars, and transplanted a motor or 2 on occasion but i dunno about this one.

Motor swap is easy if you dont have emissions to worrry about.

Tools, equipment and time are all you need. Swaping a 12A is not hard at all if you have done other engines before, much easier than the newer ones. Sounds like a good choice on your part.

i couldnt belive how easey it was may take a lil skill takin motor and gearbox out...

funny thing was my exhaust was still attached by the precat was confusing the hell out of me so i finally looked at some instruction in the haynes manual had to undo one nearly visable bolt

heck and iv never removed a motor before if it wasnt for rotarys i wouldnt have anything to do with cars.

you better keep the other one and restore it and eventually drop a 13bt in it, if u are gonna scrap it then your a failure.

i have no place to keep another car, hell i still live with my parents and working my way through college but there is so much body damage on the car, the bottom side of it is f*cked up b/c it got in a wreck on the driveside and got high centered on something... I'll probably turn it into my parts car and part it out

part it. the engine swap shouldnt take more than a day. while you have the engine out, replace all teh external gaskets you can. it'll save time later. also, use this opportunity to clean it up. the car you are going to get, make sure it isnt too rusty. check the condition of the electrical system(throw a battery in it) and the undercarriage. just make sure it will be worth your time and effort.
