Friggin starter
I have a 85 gsl-se and the 2nd starter is on its way out the door in less than a year. Does anyone know what would be causing this? Thanks! It's a standard.

Yep, when you think many of the "economy" rebuilders replace "only" what they have to to make it work out of the box. Add to this that they are working with 20 year old cores often bought from a a hgih mileage unit from the wrecker and good luck. Best thing is to spend more and get one from a reputable rebuilder with a great warranty.

also check your "S" terminal on the soleniod. they are weak connectors and tend to lose connection after awhile. I assume you know what i am talking about.
I would do 3 test with a DMM before throwing a starter test.
all test done while turning key.
Battery Pos. to starter voltage drop: less than .5v
Battery Pos. to "S" terminal: close to 0v
Battery Neg. to starter mount: close to 0v
