well in my town i'd always see this faded red 79 sitting in the parking lot of this auto parts place. One day i went to take a look at it, turns out it had most of a decent condition black interior, sunroof, and a motor and trans.

time passes....

one day i was down at the auto parts place that i actually get my parts from, picking up some brakleen or something stupid, when the guy i'm friends with behind the counter says: "Hey Kurt, you should stop by *insert name of other place here* because apparently the guy over there had seen me in my Rx7 and put out an APB of sorts for me with the other auto parts places.

so i go down there after i'm done buying my ****, and i see the 79 up on jacks, with a dude under it. As i pull up, he gets out from under the car (he was pulling the tranny) and asks me if i want it. I ask how much, and he says if i can tow it away today, its mine. So naturally i call up the towing company and they quote me $50 to take it a few miles up the road to my house (i'ts not in running condition, especially minus the tranny).

So the guy tells me the motor is blown, but everything else is good, and that i should come back tomorrow to pick up the title. I wasnt able to go back the next day because i had to work a 12 hour shift at Best Buy (as a technician) and when i went back the day after, he was nowhere to be found, and the guys there didnt know where i could find him (apparently he quit, thats why he was getting rid of his car that he kept there). So i have no title for the car.

As for the Car. There is not a speck of rust on this 79, its ******* CLEAN. There's one little quarter sized rust thing on the passenger side rear fender (up high, not on the lip) from where the paint must have gotten scratched off. But the car is all metal (no bondo repairs like my 80 has) and since then i've stripped the interior, and the plan is when the 80 body starts to rust too badly (the rockers and fenders are bubbling pretty bad) i'll just have the 79 shell painted the way i want, and then do a custom wiring job, all new harness, alarm, stereo, everything i want in a car's wiring harness, and then swap all the goodies from the 80 into the 79 and have a PERFECT car. (by that time that will include a 13bt, TII trans... yadda yadda yadda)

anyway, thats the story of my Free (or free for a $50 tow) 79 Rx7.

-Kurt

Would you be a cool person and sell me the doors on it??? PLEASE??!! I cant find any, anywhere. I'd pick them up, and give you my old doors to keep stuff out of it and they still seal . If your just swapping the stuff over when your 80 rusts out, just do the doors too.. please respong dude.

I think you ought to give me your wheels, they would look good on my red 7.
Good snag by the way...

My history with Rx-7s.....

1st-

$400. Found sitting behind a barn. 1982 GTU (stupid, didn't know that at the time, had the rear spoiler, Targa top, and LSD) Motor was seized and I put a 12A in it that had bad oil seals. Ended up giving it to my Dad to repay my debt to him (he bought me a 12A from a junkyard that ended up running on 1 cylinder)

2nd-

$300. Lady had a really nice crap brown 1983 GS with a sunroof. This had the bad oil motor in it. I put the motor my Dad bought for me in it and ran on 1 cylinder for a couple months till I could by a GOOD used 12A. $600 for the good motor and it ran like a scalded dog. Painted the car white and drove it for a year or so before totalling at 80+mph in a curve

3rd- 1980. Got it free from the same lady. Rusted out pretty bad, no title, and the motor had been pulled and put into the '83 GS. She drove it for a year or so before the seals went bad(teenager daughter didn't know to check the oil) Ended up stripping this car for parts and scrapping the remaining body/frame.

4th- Bought a house and a 1987 Rx-7 was sitting in the driving not running(needed fuel pump) Instead of having seller drag it off with him. I traded my '87 Honda 600F Hurricane for it (was gonna kill myself on that anyway). Would've been a good deal but besides needing a fuel pump, it needed new oil seals too from sitting so long. Ended up trading this one for a 1992 Nissan 4x4 and $2,000 to boot. Didn't like the 2nd seven to tell the truth...

5th-

My current car. 1983 GSL. Traded a 13B (that I bought for the '87 before trading it) for this one-even trade! Only catch was that it didn't have a motor or seats.

6th- 1984 GSL. Good motor, good seats, needed lots of body work. Bought it for $200 for the parts. Now they are in my '83 and I finally have a NICE, decent seven to drive around and call my baby. Ain't never giving this one up!
