Frame rail

Hello
it has been a while since I have been on here last. I have an 82 rx7 and my frame rail on the driver side has a rust hole on it. Upon further scrapping I it very apparent that about 12in of it is rotted. May be a dumb question but is the car still safe to drive? I wanna fix it if it can be done. Any advice would be great
thanks

Dig out/scrape all that undercoat? someone put on there to cover up that and likely more rust til you get to solid metal and you'll get a better picture of necessary repairs and what needs to be done to perform them.
Post back what you find.

Unless you have a decent MIG gas welder (not gas less/flux) and can fab and weld, this repair is going to cost more then finding a new shell. This car should be considered in-opt until a fix is made.

Unless you had a salt dispenser behind your left front tire, you should also be looking at the rear suspension mounts to see if they're intact or equally as bad. Pull the bins and take a look at the inside, along with the mount plat from the rear wheel wells. What you find here may make that decision easier about what to do next. Good luck, and sorry to see it,

That can be repaired with a new floor section. It's possible if you or someone you know has a welder and the skill to do so. If not you are better off finding another shell and swapping everything from your car over. However, with that much rust, it's likely not localized in just that spot. I fear there will be more to be found in the rear wheel wells and lower control arm mounts at the very least. Likely some on the seam in the right front wheel well as well.
