Forget Curing Time?
Forget Curing Time?
Hey, quick question. My waterpump was leaking at the gasket. I took it off, cleaned both contact patches very clean, and applied waterpump RTV liquid gasket. The instructions say that it cures in 24 hours. I have to be at a court house tommorrow morning, and by that time it will have only been 15 hours. Will it be ok?
I canot give a definative "yes" but:
My wifes Sab 900s was overheating in a city we didn't live in, so we swapped out the thermostat in a parking lot and used standard blue RTV (sets in an hour, cures in 24) 12 hours later we were driving home, needless to say her car blew a headgasket 48 miles down the road...but not due to the thermostat or the RTV, but due to throwing a water pump hose and rapidly overheating on the beltway in houston....damn swedish cars....my guess is you will be "OK" not optimum...but "OK"
