Flywheel washer?

Hi all,

About to reinstall my flywheel and clutch. The Haynes Manu mentions a washer behind the bigass flywheel nut. However, it doesn't look like my car even came with one. Deal breaker or frivolous?

Mazda stopped installing them fairly early on. I've only seen them on '79 engines.

My '79 flywheel had one, my 81/82 flywheel did not. Unless your flywheel has a roll pin like my 79 did (below), the washer serves no purpose.

79 Flywheel with roll pin circled

81/82 Flywheel with no roll pin

Thanks for the info gents! No roll pin here, so good to go. Excited to get this back together and give it drive for the first time!!
