Get a BFH(big f'n hammer),and hit the outside edge of the flywheel near the ring gear hard. This will rock the flywheel to one side, and it will pop off the eccentric shaft.Ihave used this method several times, and it has not failed me yet.A word to the wis though is put the nut back on a few threads just to catch the heavy flywheel before it comes off and hits your fleshy bits.

Yeah, shutup kid.
hard, with a hammer. It should only take a couple good hits and it'll just pop off, leave the flywheel nut on a little bit so the flywheel doesn't just fall on the floor.

love the braaaap
For gods sake don't use too much loctite. I tried to get a flywheel nut off before where they used too much loctite and it was hell. I actually bent a 3 foot long cheater bar trying to get it off. You don't really even need loctite. There is soo much torque on the nut its not going to come off, assuming its torqued right. I think the number is 380 lb ft.

Many impacts do not provide enough total torque. I have no idea what brand you have or the capabilities of your compressor. A torque wrench is the best way. I recommend locktite if you have no idea on the final torque. The locktite bond is easily broken with heat when it comes time to remove.

Back to the topic, two-three hits on it with the right hammer should take it off!

Yea, I just tightened mine with the impact wrench, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you know how much torque it's hitting it with. After I finished, I bought a 3/4" drive torque wrench from Harbor Freight that goes up to 300 ft. lbs. Very reasonable...$70: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...Itemnumber=808. I have no idea how accurate it is, but it must be better than guessing with an impact wrench.
