no, we dont usually have that problem on the highways around here either. Everything is illuminated to hell with street lights, especially the highways. I've actually driven with no headlights for a while not even realizing they werent on because its so bright with the streetlights that the headlights are of little consequence.

not to sound like an ***. but they way your talking your just thinking about your self. there are others out there that need as much light as posible. like my self. at night comming home to my house i have to go up a curvy road with no lights and lots of trees to block out any form of moon light. its extreamly dark. and some times i feel the stock lights dont work to well up there.

you have to think of the people that would like to have the flsuh lights but need them to perform well. you cant just think of the few people that can have them even if they put out crappy light. that would cut off the market for them severely.

 

I'm just jokin around dude, do whatever you want to your car, its your car Sorry if i sounded like an *** or anything to anyone.

 

So whats the dilly with those who are trying to come up with a flush light kit? I really like the Miata ones, but I wouldn't drop 4 benjamins to test it on a FB.

im with u manntis, i live in the city but when i go to work (shipyard) its down town and alot of the lights are either shot out or burned out and no one plans on replacing them if we can get some good lighting (non pop up) that looks nice i'll buy them

 

If you ever go someplace without lighting at all it's quite freaky with crappy headlights / bulbs.

That's why I'm wary of these aftermarket lights, rarely do they do a good job (and not kill every other driver on the road).

 

I agree 100%. I have horrible night vision problems, and I may replace my windshield with a new one even though it isn't cracked- just to have better night vision. DOn't even get me started on ricers funning misadjusted fog lights 24/7 because it looks kewl. They are supposed to aim down to the road just in front of the vehicle, that is why they are 'fog' lights, not up into where the fog would be if it was actually foggy.
Sure, I understand the drive to customize a car, and I don't diss anybody that tries this. Just remember oncoming traffic when you create you lights. ANd also, the original reason for pop-up lights was to satisfy a minimum hieght requirement. If the lights are too low, they reflect more glare into oncoming traffic.

Popups aren that bad...it just gets irritating when the one doesnt want to close.. :-)

You have some pics of how u cut the metal to allow the light to fit? Pretty tight fit inside there, I'm thinking maybe just doing the sleepy eye type setup cause it would be very easy to do.

And what exactly are u using the fiber for? The mount? I'm not having a good picture in my mind.

I'm with the guy that said goto Lowe's or Home Depot and get the supplies. Look, you are worried about brightness? Go grab some friggin "2002 Maxima Replacement Lights" or maybe the bulbs from a Chevy truck at autozone. If that isn't enough, then cut 2 more holes and add 2 more lights. The bulbs are like the size of a really big unshelled peanut. I don't get what the matter is. use some reflective tape on the inside, or get some mirrors and cut them (not hard to do).

It's almost done, I am just taking some pictures on the car. I have been really busy with work plus a new job and getting the car ready so I can race it this year couple of times.

 

The matter is a properly shaped beam pattern that allows you to see a safe distance in front of you without blinding oncoming drivers. That has a bit to do with brightness and a whole lot to do with how the light is reflected and projected onto the road.

 

The bulbs off of the Chevy Trucks are 3157-XK. And to run them at that intensity, you have to have a special plug in. They wont run off of normal 3157 plugs. I have the clear front turn signals on my Xtreme, and wanted the brighter lights, but after i tried them I found out that they didn't work. Plus, have you noticed how many chevys are running around with only one working light? The lights burn out VERY quickly.

just put some sylvania xrtra vison's on, they cost only 13.99 each and the clames of three times brighter are true, I could not beleave the difference. I gave a much better beam pattern.

 

this could be an option... it would solve the problem of not having the light for the first few feet in front of the car!! looks pretty cool too. 'course, the first fender bender you have, you won't be able to see, but...
