Flush headlights?¿?¿
 

i have seen lights for the 3rd gen that are non foldup, but not the 1st gen. anyone know where these could be purchased? or who might make them? if not, would there be a market for them?

As far as I, and most forum members know, there is no such thing as a kit. There are a select few cars that have custom kits on them, but they arent something that is available over the counter.

would anyone be interested if they were available? i don't know for sure, but i may know someone who could fabricate them. not for sure, but maybe. im not gonna ask if no one other than myself is interested. if there is interest, what kind of price would they sell for? aproximate?

There is no interest...there have been a couple of threads that have batted this idea around and nothing ever became of them... :cool:

i like this idea, i have seen it on 2nd and 3rd gens and it looks bad ass.

i would get it my self but you have to make it your self. and even if some one did make them they would prolly cost alot. becasue your replacing alot. with the non pop ups you have to get a replecement light housing that will fit in there and put out enought light for correct driving at night. its not good to squint.

Replacement units with anything close to decent headlights will run $500 and up - and with 1st gens, that's as much as some people paid for the whole car.

The FD ones pictured above go for $800 to $1100 a pair depending on who's selling them.

Thus, no one is actually interested in the conversion as I pointed out earlier which should have saved some server space...

Id be happy with the pop ups with an improved light setup. Not just an H-4 conversion, but more like two projector lights or something. Excuse the horrible terminology. I just installed a flush headlight kit on a friends Miata and it has two lights like the ones on the FD above, and they kick ass. So I would just be happy with two smaller lights per housing. That would be kinda cool :).

I am working on a setup with really low price. There will be two kits, one for aorud $150US and one for $350US.

I personally like the pop up lights.. All I need is a BRIGHT lighting kit for mine and Id be happy. When I drive my FB im like damn these lights suck. Only if they were like my new corolla. Those things are so bright, you can see anything...

get a set of proper HID units for them ... and get used to people flashing you to dip your lights and the flashin them back with another couple of hundred watts of light ;)

Well, I'm interested in a flush setup, anyway. The advantages would include reduced drag, cool looks, and you could flash the "passing lights" without having to open the lids. There could (should) be a weight reduction involved with the elimination of the motor assemblies as well. The trick is to make it sell for a couple hundred bucks, then you would have people lining up for 'em.

I am doing true HID's on my GSL-SE in a couple of days. Going to do my bike first.

Amoebid, email Daniel Stern and ask about proper headlights for such a kit. They're far more expensive than you'd think. Headlights being major safety devices, you don't want to cheap out and put crappy lamps in there just to sell a low-priced kit.

I did some extensive research on this months ago when I was designing a flush mount kit. I couldn't find a way to make an inexpensive yet effective kit, and didn't want someone hitting a tree or something because I sold them crap :(

I am not cheaping out at all. This are hella headlight units designed for custom application with low and high beam units.
You just have to have good hook ups to be able to get them for reabonable price.
