flow that nikki

Does anyone or everyone grind away the dags on the "top plate" of the nikki to get better flow. Mine has some quite angular edges on the way in and a few dags from the mould or stamp or whatever makes them.

Also can I get more flow by pissing off the choke. or do I really need it I think I can survive with out it here in sunny Gold Coast Australia.
