flickering lights on 85 SE

Hi. Was out driving my 85 SE today and a couple of times not all the time but every once and a while the warning lights would all start flickering any where around 800-1700 rpm. When i stoped a couple times and when i was just taking off but as soon as the rpm got over about 1700 it stoped and was fine. The alternator is working because the gage was reading fine and it was good but every once and a while it started flickering at low rpm and a noise sorta a rattling would be coming from either the engine bay or just behind the dash. Not a loud noise just a slight noise. Wondering if anyone knows what the problem could be. I did search but all the situations were different then mine. Thx, any help would be apricated.
