Are the flex fans or a simialar aftermarket mechanical fan available for our cars? I wsa thinking about doing this instead of electric so I wouldnt have to worry about the electric motor POSSIBLY going out. Maybe something that pulls more air and doesnt weigh as much (rotation wise). Anyone know?

I bought a flex fan a while back. I have not tried to mount it or use it, But the guy I got it from had used it. I dont plan to use it because it is plastic. I gave him $10 shipped for it. I would sale it to you for the same. Can get pics if you want.
