Fixing things that aren't broken, now its broken.

I'm having a serious issue, I recently Tore down my starter and greased the solenoid. After putting it back the battery was dead and I had to jump it, the starter worked fine now (it was not engaging earlier) but the Tach will jump randomly when I press the brake and engage the brake light or use other electronics. At first it didn't affect the idle or engine but after driving about 1km the engine lost power at 3k rpm and sounded like a semi down shifting. It then will cut out on all other gears at variating rpms. What did I do wrong? help?

You have a loose or dirty ground connection, most likely, where the battery negative cable bolts to the engine via the starter bolt.

starter is blown, took it apart again and cleaned up the connections and they were worn and full of porosity. wouldn't run on a 12v test solenoid is good but that doesn't do me any good. I'm picking up a new one from a junkyard in 15 min, any ideas on why the engine wouldn't turn over with even a roll start? I had a buddy tow me and it wouldn't start up in 3rd, just turned over without a hint of life, not even a sputter.

I agree with the ground. Check the fuel pump ground. On my car the rear electronics including the fuel pump and brake lights, tail lights, fuel guage sender etc. all ground under the rear hatch release mechanism inside the trunk. If you have a bad or loose ground here, every time you press the brake pedal, the fuel pump will shut off. I'm not sure where the tach grounds to.
