Fixed my boost creep! (with updated pics!)

now i actually need to weld an even bigger flapper door on there. the one i ended up using is not shown here, but it wasnt enough. with a boost controller i can only hit 9psi in 3rd gear at 7200rpms. LOL!!

And here's an updated shot of my engine bay. it's running ****** great!

^VERY NICE!!! You ported the crap out of it . What are you running for a downpipe and exhaust anyway? I'm running a stock jdm 2" downpipe (no cats) and 2.5 straightback from that. I ported my wg as much as I could to keep the stock flapper and now it doesn't creep at all. Use to hit 8psi, but now it stays at 6 in every gear. I have the small exhaust to keep boost down (for the reliability factor)

well, 9psi is amazing conpared to what it used to be doing. i first ported the wg to slightly bigger than the stock flapper door... it still kept creeping to almost 20psi with NO BOOST CONTROLLER! i have a custom tubular long runner manifold pushing the hell out of that turbo... and my full, no cats, mandrel bent 3" exhaust doesnt help the creep either right now, when i floor it in 3rd it holds about 6psi until around 6500 then it starts to creep up almost hitting 10psi by the time i shift. which i can deal with. i'm welding a new flapper door on tomorrow that cover the entire hole and should give me my full boost (around 10 or 12 with the boost controller) by 4,000rpms. i already have my FMIC and new FC FMOC ready to mount up but i want to get this boost under control first.

oh and i have thought about dropping the exhaust down to 2.5" mandrel bends but ehhhh, when this thing gets over 4500 rpms.. no matter what boost it's rediculous. i'm having a blast with this thing! hahaha and i'm still using the STOCK NIKKI CARB! MUUUHUHUAHHAAAAA!!!

Awesome FB II! The setup looks great, and I imagine it's a pretty quick ride! Hopefully I will be joining your ranks soon! Have you done a write up of any kind yet, and if not, did you have to modify the Nikki, or is it TRULY stock?

lol, besides boost prepping it and removing all the un needed emissions pieces on it yea it's stock. just some jetting required. there is no need for a write-up by me, there are already plenty on this forum. hahaha

your using a six puck clutch right? how well is your trans holding?

280? not with the stock TII turbo. it doesnt flow enough air. we'll see as i should be getting it on the dyno here soon. right now i'm actually using the centerforce dual friction clutch. it's pretty good so far, but i plan to switch it out for a sprung puck type. and as of now, my trans is holding up great and i've been slamming the gears as always! WOOOO!

oh and my 0-60 isn't all that great yet... i just keep blowin the tires up in smoke aahahahha! as of late i've mainly been cruisin thru first then step it up to second gear and i'll mash the throttle around 3000rpms and it just picks up and pulls harder and harder all the way to around 7500 where i shift. it's crazy... it really never dies off. and i rarely get to do a full 3rd gear pull because it throws me up to 80mph very quickly and thats way too fast for any of the roads around here. i'll be doing some highway pulls tonight so i'll see what 4th can do it's weird when your speedo moves as fast as your tach used to WOOOOO!

I was surprised to see that you aren't running any type of direct fire ignition. Such a cheap mod, and with the transistor trick it really helps in the upper rpms. Smoother idle, better gas mileage, etc. are just added bonuses.

What do you mean 'prepping for boost'? Just rebuilding with better gaskets?

Edit: Sorry man, I'll just start reading

prepping for boost = the carb will accept the forced air. if you dont "prep" it then the carb will have a heart attack when it sees even one PSI! trust me..... I KNOW.

KENTETSU: honestly, i dont feel like messing with all that junk. i have like 3 or 4 TII coils but ehhhhh, i think i'm just going to get a mallory or msd ignition box for the leading and run it thru the dizzy. it will hit a hell of alot harder than the dlfiR2D2 ****. hahah and it throws out multiple sparks... ANNNND i can add another box.. and even a 3rd box down the road as i increase turbo size

buuuut, i fixed the entire boost situation. what actually happened was the damn wastegate rod flew off. so i rigged it up so tha won't happen again and now i have 12psi by 4200rpms in 3rd. it pulls soooo hard now it's redOnkulus! i'm going to an rx7 meet in SC in the morning and when i return we are putting in the FMIC. THEN i'm going to a dyno party and i juuuuust might get in on it

yes ohhhhhh ***** fuggin yes! tonight was the first night i took it out for some street punishing MUHUHUHHAHAAAA lets just say i held a car length in front of my friends 240sx.................... that just put down 386rwhp tonight. the main reason i got him was because his RB20 makes junk for torque, but i'm still fuggin stoked! MUHUAHUAHAHAAA. now, he waaas sorta starting to gain on me, but i didnt feel like going past 130mph when we started at damn 60mph. now i know i'm not making anything crazy with the hp numbers yet, but this ****** is running STRONG. i can only imagine how much fun your car is to drive alex!

woohoooooooo!!! and the FMIC still didnt get put in LOL! (dont worry i was running 95 octane tonight ) it will be in before i go out street punishing again tho, hopefully before this weekend yayyy!

What's your dump pipe off the turbo like? Having a split pipe for the wastegate helps to keep the boost under control with less turbulence and better flow to boot. That's what I'm doing with my S5 hybrid. 3inch dump off the turbine and 2inch dump off the wastegate joining up just after the fire wall. Should work well.
