i posted my 1/4 mile times a while back @ 14.43
If all you have is a stockport 12A and a Nikki carb with the mods you posted, I don't see how you could have run a time like that. This is in the neighborhood of the kind of time that a bone-stock FD runs. Are you saying your car is as fast as a stock FD?!?
Until you post a timeslip I'm calling....
Oh, and there's no chance a stock 12A can touch a Mustang Cobra.

the new engine was bought before i bought the car,
it cost the previous owner a pretty penny,
he did say weather it was ported,
if anything id say a mild street port.
the engine always pulled stronger then any of my previous 1st gens,
this is my third.
im trying to find my time slips now.
the wild clutch combo and welded diff allow me to launch @ 3,000 rpm with no prblems,
in fact its the only way i can see possible of getting this thing off the line with hopes of a low et
for the mean time heres a couple more thing i have done to my car
rb rear springs
tokico adjustable shocks
helps put the power to the pavement
and reenforced wheel wells,i noted the old ones started to buckle after the clutch, suspension and diff upgrades.

14.43 secs? what is a stock first gen? Like 17? I find the fact that you shave 3 secs off your et with the mods you have done. Have you had your car weighed? How much is it, that could explain it a little but the stuff you say you removed isn't really that heavey (well maybe the A/C) Obviously you don't like american cars, which is fine everyone is entitled to his opinion, but Muscle cars werre made to drag race so my $$$ would be on the Cobra or my TA. First gen rx7's, unless you do some wild **** under the hood don't really make good draggers, note: I said unless you do some wild **** under the hood, I've seen plenty of first gen draggers that are good but they are always heavily modded.

Just scan the time slip... Im curious I only ran my car once and its really BAD,
It was like 16 secs
My friend just bought a 79 TA in awesome condition for $2000, the motor all chromed, even the bird on the hood it perfect. Id like to had one, im a fan of old cars...
Of course Id like to have a 79 or 80 Rx-7 in perfect condition, but not gonna pay 4 or 5k it

This is the 2nd time everyone's gotten in an uproar over V8kilr's "street" RX-7. When it happened last time, he listed all the gutting he did to reduce weight, just like he did this time. If a stock '68 FBird race-prepped and gutted can run low 12s when they did 15's in old car tests, then I tend to believe a stockport 12A that normally runs 17s could easily, with the same preparation, could run 14s. Nice work on the Cobra, V8kilr!
thanks for coming to the rescue.
people dont understand how restricted a stock seven is,
just unrestricting it,
ie 3 cats
smog pump
other emmisions
a/c pump,
a/c core
etc
there is a lot of power to be gained from "fixing these problems"
i dont have emmisions here so ask me if i care that my car polutes 10 times as much as a mack truck.
