First real kill

i would put this ijn the kills section, but i think more people could respect this here.

My Car:

84 GSL-SE
New 13b 6 port with large streetport
cold air intake
msd ignition
racing beat springs
racing beat exhaust
strut tower bar

His Car:

Newer Eclipse

Not sure fi it was AWD or turbo or anything

The Story

I was driving home from school and was stuck behind a red eclipse that in turn was stuck behind a semi, the semi was doing about 35. We top the hill and see the good 3 mile stretch, and no cars. Eclipse passes semi, i pass semi and get next to the eclipse to pass him also. He looks over and i see him he nods and floors it. Im in 5th gear so i have to downshift still, by the time im goin hes about a car length or more ahead of me. I gun it, catch him at about 65(started the race at about 50). We hung with each other till about 75, then from then on out i just ikep pullin away, got to about 90(about a half mile before i couldnt see anymore(still no cars) im a good 3 or 4 car lengths ahead of him, pull in front of him and we both slow back to the speed limit like nothin happened. It was pretty cool. Oh yea, this stretch, theres 2 houses on it, each of wich have about a 200 yd driveway so it wasnt at all dangerous to anyone except ourselves or the most part.

Yup, regular eclipses are, especially the ATX versions. My nearly stock atx Neon will stomp a stock atx Eclipse. Same block in the engine but the Eclipse is a brick on wheels the thing is so heavy. Nice kill Jim! Roads like that are common in northen LP of michigan and UP of Michigan, eh

would i have a chance against a turbo or awd eclipse? My friend ha a Talon(for the few that dont know they are same as Eclipse and Laser) and he wont say if his is turbo or AWD but keeps sayin he wants to race. We've never goten around to it because we can never find a safe place when its not busy. If it was awd or turbo, bnut there was no exhaust mods or intake mods or anything, would i stand a chance?

Stock weight for the 2g is 2700 lbs, with a 140hp motor. With a turbo its 210 no matter if its awd or just fwd. I have no idea of the weight for the awd us google it and you will find it im sure.

OMG so true. Reminds me of the highways that go east to west up in the UP in MI. We have a stretch that was call the Seney stretch. Goes from Seney to Munising. Straight and boring and when I left up there it was still only 55mph.

Not sure what your chances would be. The Talon I think should have Tsi on the back if it is turbo unless he's debadged it. The AWD version would weigh more since it has to have the extra parts for the AWD part The Talon Tsi AWD is my personal favorite of the three.

Nice kill.

Was it the 00 body style, or the 95 - 99 style? The newer ones dont come turbo.

3040 was what my 97 FWD GST weighed at the track. No spare, rear carpet, jack, stero. Yes they are pigs. A 13.81 @ 109 verifies that. (2.6 - 60')

No. I dont think you would have a chance if it is turbo. If it is N/A then you definatly do stand a chance.
