first gremlin came up today, kicked it square in the nuts

so i bought a grinder today to take care of some surface rust and to take out the bin support metal. All was well until i took my '82/83 (the title says '82, but the sticker under the hood says "vacuum diagram for '83 RX-7) out for a spin around the block to get some heat in the engine. I drive it 3-4 times around my subdivision a day to get some heat into the engine so nothing siezes while i'm restoring it (can't take it out on the road because no insurance or valid tags yet, should get that within the next 2 weeks, had the car for ~10 days, oh, and i only have a dash and the shifter in the car). So i got about .4 miles into my daily drive, and it started to sputter, revs dropped, and it shut off. I tried to re-fire it, and it got to about 1700 rpm (bridge port 12a, idles ~1900 rpm), then shut off. I was like "damn, my fuel gauge is off". Then i sat there and listened before shutting off my ignition to walk home, and i couldn't hear the fuel pump running. It has a big Holly electric fuel pump. So i went home, got my brother, and we pushed it back to my house. It's been about 2 hours since this happened, i just got home from playing basketball with some friends, and i came home early from that to track down the problem.

I started back at the fuel pump to see if some wires just came loose (the guy i bought it from was an idiot). Wiring at the back end was in good shape, so i checked the fuses. Sure enough, the fuel pump fuse was blown.

So, does anyone here have a Holly electric fuel pump on their car? It seemed like the fuse took a while to blow, and i was wondering if it's pulling between 9.8 and 10.5 amps, so it takes a while to blow the fuse. Would it be OK if I replaced the fuel pump fuse with a 15 amp, or should I stay with a 10 amp?
