Question First Gen Fuel Mileage in KM

Hey guys i'm new to the board and i'm looking into getting a 1984 RX. I'm not sure which engine is in it but i was wondering what kind of fuel consumption they get, preferably in KM. Also how many KM do u get to a tank of gas. Anyways guys thanx for helping a newbie out.

I usually fill my 82 up with about 45-50 liters of gas. When it was stock, this would go about 350-400 kms, depending on what kind of driving was involved. With a normal driving-to-work routine, usually about 370. With my current modifications (Dellorto carb, RB exhaust, etc), I get about 275-320 kms on the same tank, although it is very variable on how much I use the gas pedal (ie. it might be better if I didn't floor it all the time). A pure highway trip will fare a little better than these figures, and foot to the floor or city driving will yield numbers on the low end of the scale.

In other words, this is not a very good car for gas mileage. One good thing though, is that only 87 octane is required - you don't need to fill up with anything but regular grade, no premium fuel like the turbos.

On the whole, it feels like it probably gets about a third the gas mileage of my Honda Civic DX winter car.

Honestly though, most of us don't care much about mileage, because people who care a lot about that don't typically drive cars like this lol. It's a sportscar, and the driving experience rewards like no other - if you keep that in mind you'll feel like the extra gas expense is absolutely worth it.

My '82 would make nearly 600kms to the 63 liter tank on the highway. Using my mad math skillz, that works out to 9.5 km/liter. In the city, the car would get ~380-400 kms, or ~6-6.35 km/liter.

I'm not even going to talk about my '79. I don't want to scare you off with those numbers.

Hope that helps you out.

I got as little as 11L/100km mostly higway,

Hard street driving gets you about 14-18 L/100 km

and racing events such as auto X or lapping, I calculated about 20L/100 KM

I keep track of this because my fuel gauge is unreliable

400 MILES/Tank NO WAY!!!

wow!!!.. My SE has NEVER EVER seen 300, let alone 400. The most I ever squeezed outta her was 287 miles on a tank and I was driving in the yellow for a while. Typically right now I get from 220-240 miles per tank.
But happy to be driving a SPORTS car, it's just the feeling of being fast.. lol

fuel efficieny would be the correct term... mileage was from the good ol' days when there was no such thing as metric

I personally prefer the metric system, as I have no idea whether 12.3L/100km is better than 15km/L haha..

there doesn't really seem to be a definate system that works for all metric numbers in fuel economy, etc....

but I know when someone says 28 mpg, that's alright, and 40mpg is pretty sweet, and 65 mpg is like my friend's Nissan Micra, lol
