Yesterday i went to the junkyard (just to see whats new) and i found this small orange piece that goes right above the ash tray. The cig. lighter has an orange ring around it that lights up when the lights are on. here's my question :: Is there a light for the ash tray that the orange piece ID's There is no light anywhere on mine
for the ash tray.. 1982 GS.

 

On my 85 GS there is a small bulb for illuminating the ashtray, and two lights to illuminate dials for fan and temperature control.

On my 83 The light that does the lighter and ash tray are one in the same, I am almost 100% sure the bulb is on the lighter and the tray thing is illuminated by this little piece of fiber optic looking ****. Its just a bunch of clear plastic strands inside a black plastic tube that carries the light to the tray light. Kinda high tech for that car IMO. Theres like a socket thing on both the tray and lighter, the fiber optic thing goes between the two. Next time your at the junk yard just grab it off some car, chances are its still there, I doubt anyone would take it.
