First day of new project

well, i got the 79 rx-7 home yesterday and started working on her today. Was pretty nasty on inside and outside so out with the old pressure washer. Except for the hood, the body seems to be perfect. Inside is pretty gross tho, will need new drivers seat and something done about the cracked dash too, and probably new carpets.

2nd order of the day was to place in the newly recharged battery and new battery terminal clamps. As soon as i did, i could hear the fuel pump, is it supposed to run even if u dont have it cranked up? It alsol seems to be running try as its pretty noisy.

I replaced the fuel filter to find out the tank is empty, so i guess i will have to go get soem gas before i even think about craking it.

Anyhoo back to the fuel pump, it doesnt seem normal for it to run when u plug the battery in, i mean wouldnt that make it run 24/7? Or is it just to prime the pump and the fuel lines and carb?

Any ideas? thanks

Jeff (pictures wil be coming soon).

The pump should only run when the key is in the "run" (or start) position, I believe.

Welcome to the world of 7-ownership :-)
