firing order
hay can any one help i have a 85 rx7 and i cant get it to start i know its getting fuel, has new plugs, and wires, i know the distributor is good but i can only get one cylinder to fire so it must be out of time but i can only get the timing light to light on the one plug. i need to know what the firing order is the guy at the store said it was 1212 but what does that mean. i have it set on the top dead center mark but it wont even backfire. i need to know which 2 wires go to the coils and where the other 4 goes this t1, t, l1, l, l2, t2 stuff is wierd to me never had anything with a rotary engine in it. can any one help....

The bottom plugs are leading (L), the top are trailing (T). Looking at the engine, it should be:
T1 T2
L1 L2
The front housing is 1, the rear is 2. For the coils (black cylinders near battery), the one closest to the front of the car is trailing (T) and the other is leading (L). The wires should go from the coils to the distributor cap without crossing. Good luck. Welcome to the forums.

It almost sounds to me like bad plugs or wires though. Could also be a bad distributor cap or rotor. I have had bad luck with the Neihoff caps and rotors that most of the auto parts stores sell. I usually order mine from Victoria British, as they sell the Bosch parts that seem to fit a lot better. Look inside your cap for signs of cracks or arcing.
