it works pretty good, no idea if its going to gain anything, i drove with no filter for a day, just the sensor and it felt alittle quicker and this is just like that. it backfires alot less now a has a little better tone.

the front of the filter does have filter material so its still getting air.

the box could still draw air from the dam. i'm just not sure if it will actually suck much air from the dam the way it is now.

You could have mounted the filter in front of the radiator, then run your flex pipe from the filter to the MAF adapter. All cool air.

well the idea what when im driving the airdam will have air rushing in to the engine bay, and this way it is directing it into the air filter. i didnt necessarily expect it to "suck" the air in.

yea i just have it instead of the top piece of the airbox. nothing special.

Ran into my first problem with it today, apparently i didnt tighten one of the clamps up and the one going to the MAFS popped off and killed the car, no damage and an easy fix but gotta watch out from now on... scared the **** out of me though, it turned over and tryed to start but woudnt, didnt know wtf was wrong, but soon found it

So you removed the factory cold air box in favour of warm engine compartment air? The afm needs to be mounted level, just like it was originally.

As much as I may laugh every time someone does this i was guilty of similar attempts in my early days. I tried the cone thing, and on my 12a car I ran a duct from the air horn to the front of the rad as well. At least I never tried to turn the air pump into a turbo.....

Did someone really try to do this? I want to see this. Not to try and do but just for the laugh.

back on topic. That really wont give you any gain over not having it. the inlet in the front of the filter is only about 1/8 of the total filter material. air will take the path of least resistance, and would only pull about 1/8 or less of total air. what would work if you want to fab up somthing that would work, and look sweet IMO is a box that shields the whole inlet/filter, and do one of those headlight scoops, along with the hole you already cut you would have nothing but cold air right there. aluminum would look and work the best IMO.

you wont be getting any cold air

The filter will suck air wherever easiest, the red parts of the filter showing are the most easy
