finally settled on a new ride

most of u that frequent the other rotary forum know about my 808 that's now wrecked. since i'm not able to find another 808/rx3 in decent condition or decent price and not so damn far away, i've decided to go with an rx7. so i posted here since i'm a 1st gen'er now. picked up an '84 gsl only missing an engine and been sitting for quite some time under some oak trees for $50. we got a camera a few days ago so now i can make my own pics. these r before and after cleanup and engine install. still have a few things to take care of like wiring and such since there's lots i'm not using in the rx7 that the stock engine would use.

for those that don't know of my 808, pics can be seen in this gallery

nah, it sat under some oak trees for several years. luckly it wasn't baked on by the sun so it came off fairly easy. it actually looks better in the pics than it really is. it's been repainted before(same color) and whoever did it did a poor job. there's places where the paint has chipped off like the front edge of the hood and headlight covers. i'm just glad to get my engine in something driving agin.

thanx guys. weekends is the only time i have to work on it. already found out i'm going to have to replace the clutch and brake masters as they both leak. the plan is to drain the tank and good gas put in and get the fuel pump on it so i can get it started up. i also plan to get some video with this new camera that way i'll get some audio for those that would like to hear what a 4 port 13b with streetport and racing beat's streetport exhaust sounds like. AND my friends rx7 with the motorcycle mufflers on it.

excellent job on the clean up, by the way. you're too modest.

the underside looks really good, no rust. there's nowhere on the car where panels have rusted out, pretty much just surface rust in places of chipped off paint. yes i believe it's a GS also considering there's no power windows, locks, mirrors (but i will put my mirrors on it), no rear wiper, drum brake non lsd rearend and anything else that would make it a GSL. remember, i've never had one of these, and it not being on the title, i wasn't sure what model.
