FINALLY got around to a build thread... 56K torture.

Its been the better part of a year since I finished this thing and I've still only posted a couple pics every once in a while. I used to get the odd PM about "I love your car, What kit is that? where can I get it?" kinda made me feel warm and fuzzy...

SOOOO... here's a build thread with all the pics I took along the way. Hope you like it.
And if the image tags don't work I'm going to look like a big idiot...

Here we have the plain-Jane mazda RX-7. This is NOT my car. It is identical in colour to what mine used to be. The PO brought it in from California to B.C., then B.C. to Winnipeg. This thing had never seen winter.unfortunatly I negected to take any pictures of it before I threw a giant wing on it... embarassing. I drove it like this for a month, put the wing on it, put a Holley, RB intake, and headers on it and drove it for a year.

THEN.... It got to winter time and I wanted to look cooler.
So we progressed to this point over the course of a winter.

Getting the front end planted at autocross. 15x8' BFG G-Force sports were pretty sticky!!! This Car brakes like a mother with drilled/slotted rotors...

http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...192_7_full.jpg
Not bad eh? Still... needed somethign else...
some side skirts...
yeah. AS you can tell, the PO had a little accident... No problem!! little dolphin glaze here, a little Rage Gold there...

The putty is at most a quarter inch thick, btw... Just to get it smooth...
Some new headlights and fill up the header panel...

and an *** that won't quit...

We can all agree that brown interiors suck.
And if you don't agree, you were probably raised in the 80s and are therefore too old to have your opinion matter to a young punk like me...

SOOO...........Pull out the wallet and....

presto!

So then it got sent away for paint. And I can't find those pictures for some reason... Happiest day of my life when it came back tho...

Took a while to get assembled. But long story short it now looks like THIS!!!

With a sexy black interior..

And thats how its done, ladies and gents. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks for coming and have a safe drive home...

The seats DO say Mazdaspeed... I got 'em off ebay at some point. Lucked out on them. Haven't seen a set since. I did, however, have to build completely new seat perches on the floor... Not fun. I have pics somewehre. I'll dig them up....

The seats BARELY fit. They're about a half inch from hitting the door when I close it. I have to run the regular seatbelts through the shoulder harness holes...

BTW if ANYONE HAS A SET OF BLACK SEATBELTS I NEED THEM!!!
My dyed ones are slowly returning to brown...

The front of that car looks amazing. I applaud your craftsmanship and good work with the metal work. I think the rest of it is not to my tastes, but you did amazing work. I want that front end!!

I was wondering if you could post a close up of the side marker front or rear as I was wondering how it would look untrimmed with rubber or whatever but sunk in flush like you have it. I was trying to decide in my mind if it would look good without a rubber trim around the edge of the hole or not.

Nice,

I think getting rid of the rear wiper would be nice also.

If you hadn't added IMO, I probably would have found out who you were and killed you... Now I can't even get mad at you. Ouch though. You just took 6 months of work and slapped me in the face with it...

Nope. GM code 71U...

See it in real life... The pictures don't really do it justice, IMO. But I'm biased...

I'll try to get a closeup of the marker lights and find the width of the seats... It's under a car cover right now tho, and won't get worked on til next week due to a lineup of midterms...
