FINALLY found the most irritating squeak culprit!
After living with the most annoying squeak I've ever heard in the RX for over a year, I discovered it last night: passenger seat belt anchor alignment pin. This thing had all the characteristics of a loose hatch shock mount, a loose rear shock mount, a loose rear panel, etc. It would squeak every time a door was closed, and at every little bump in the road (even with passenger in car and seatbelt buckled). I finally isolated it last night by simulating door closing (hitting rear panel with fist), and found the pin that centers the seat belt retractor vertically to be squeaking against the bracket. A little white lithium grease on the pin, and the squeak is GONE! Now I can enjoy driving this thing again, until someone buys it from me! See my for sale ad in 1st Gen.
