Filter stuff

Couple questions so I can get nice clean air into my engine

First, what is the diameter and thread count of the stock air cleaner assembly stud that the bottom pan attaches to? The threading on mine was damaged during shipping so I can't test it out with the nuts I've got on hand. I've got a replacement on another carb, but it's in storage and I want to get the hardware for a temporary filter assembly I'm making ready to go in the mean time (need a coupler, threaded rod, and a wing nut to mount it). Kind of looks like 5/16-18 but I assume it's metric

Second, is there a consensus on the best assembly for a hogged out nikki? Looking at:
Stock
RB
Bonez
Something else?

Thanks!

it is metric, 8x1.25 would be my guess, same as the strut top. it is kind of important to keep the wing nut though, it doesn't fit down the carb, so no worries about it going through the engine.

best air cleaner is probably the stock one with the thermo door removed and a cold air feed from the front of the car.

the ~3" snorkel on it is good to about 170rwhp, which is more than the stock nikki can ever make ever

IMO i like a paper filter, it filters...

Yeah, unfortunately I haven't had one of the blue filter assemblies for the last 7 years, so no wing nuts to keep!

Speaking of which, it does seem to be 8x1.25. Where do you guys get your weird metric hardware?

Specifically, a coupling nut, a threaded rod and a wing nut?

lol, i don't think the air cleaner is a huge performance piece, either way, the restriction is the carb/intake manifold anyways.

you should be able to get nuts and bolts in 8x1.25, its a common size, but long threaded rod might be tricky.

McMaster-Car just about everything. I also have no issues finding metric hardware at the local Westlake store.

I bet getting your hands on another stock air filter housing is pretty easy. I must have thrown two of them away. When I was running my car in IT I used a stock air filter assy. I removed the filter, cut the stock snorkel off and welded in a piece of 3" exhaust tubing. Then I ran a 3 inch hose over to a 3" cone filter that picked up cooler air.
